Type OF Landy: SWB 2A
Engine: Montego Tdi
Date of Conversion: 2005-02-30
Mileage Since Conversion: 650 miles
Fuel Consumption: 35 MPG
Notes: Starts in an instant. I notice that I have to use my gearbox more than with the 2.25 petrol when bumbling around the steep lanes (however I have a very restrictive exhaust at presetn and I've done no tuning yet). However it goes like stink when the revs are up. I wish I'd paid more attenbtion to soundproofing when the engine was out. I find I drive it more often, further and faster and in my no carpet, door liners or headlining type of 2a it is noisy when up to speed.

Type of Adapter: Home made, copy of Jimbo’s Sherpa effort
Type OF Landy: SWB SIII
Engine: Montego tdi
Date of Conversion: 2005-01-01
Mileage Since Conversion: 3000 miles
Fuel Consumption: 35 MPG
Notes: Although I enjoyed making my own adapter and mounts, next time I’ll buy the kit; there’s enough to do at conversion time!! Starts in a flash, runs like a watch, no breakdowns (yet) except for the timing belt episode. Fitting the Overdrive hasn’t improved mpg, just sit at 65 instead of 50 ;-) Everyone who’s ever driven/ridden in a Series is SERIOUSLY impressed with the performance when they take a ride in my conversion!!

Type of Adapter: Integerspin Adapter and Mounts
Type OF Landy: Series III
Engine: Montego TDi
Date of Conversion: 2005-11-30
Mileage Since Conversion: 800 miles
Fuel Consumption: 30 MPG
| Notes: Easiest part - fitting the engine.
Hardest part - the exhaust
Notes: Cheap to run, fast, responsive. Having never done anything like this before, was very appreciative of Richards help. Especially answering my real dumb questions, many of them! Not the cleanest or neatest of engine bays (still haven't removed the remains of the old wiring) but it works. Pipes hanging on the air cleaner are for the PAS. Still not fitted the Saxo electric pump. One day…..
