APRON AND SADDLE.

Handwheel 13 may be disengaged by the knurled ring behind the hub. An upward movement of the lever 14 engages feed to the saddle and lever 15 to cross-slide. Feed reverse knob 16 has three positions, in and out are forward and reverse motions, midway position neutral. Leadscrew is engaged by setting knob 16 to midway position and depressing lever 17. Knob 16 is interlocked with 17, therfore do not force leadscrew engagement lever, butfirst ascertain that 16 is in neutral position 18 is saddle binder. Chasing stop is engaged by screwing in knurled knob19 when movement of the cross feed screw is limited to two and one half turns. Crosss traverse may be used in conjunction with this, when the maximum movement is reached the friction clutch will be found to slip, at which point the feed lever 15 should be disengaged. 25 is cross-slide binder.

TAPER TURNING ATTACHMENT.

When this attachment is not in use, remove bed bracket 24, see that binder 23 is screwed home securely on bar rail and binder 25 freed on cross-slide.

To use attachment, loosen binder 23, remove cover and setting tool midway between length of travel required, draw slide untill it is approximately in the centre of it's housing. Clamp home bed bracket 24 and first loosening tee bolts each end of swivel, set to angle required and tighten tee bolts.

Tighten cross-slide binder25 and proceed as for normall turning but feed tool by moving top slide. Should it be required to move more than top slide allows, loosen binder 25, re-adjust cross-slide and re-tighten binder. Attachment may be used without this binder applied, the cross-slide being used to feed in tool, but the backlash presnt in cross-feed nut must be allowed for when reversing direction of saddle.
