THREAD - FEED GEAR BOX.

 Right hand knob 8 on large dial "R" selects either belt drive of fine feeds, or gear drive for screw cutting. Centre knob 9 when thrust forward, will rotate to select the desired feed or thread, this knob rotates easily. if any resistance is felt, rotate spindle backwards and forwards slightly to free tumler gear. To-relock, pull knob out, at the same time rotate slightly in either directio and feel into locking position. knob should stay out when locked. Dial "R" indicates rate of feed on the lower half, threads are shown on the upper part. letters "A", "B" and "C" refer to postion of knob 10. "stud" and "Box" refer to two interchangeable gears 11 and 12.

SCREW CUTTING.

 With knobs 6 and 8 set at feed, look for thread desired on dial "R", turn knob 6 to R.H. or L.H., set knob 8 to thread, at the same time note postion of stud and box gears and change if necessary. When sett knob 8 to thread, feel this into full engagement by using clutch 2 lightly.

THREAD CHASING DIAL.

 When using thread chasing dial 26, the following rules apply. Where threads per inch to be cut are equally divisible by 8, the half nuts may be engaged at any point without using chasing dial. For all other whole threads, nuts may be engaged at any of the four graduations. for half threads, engage at the opposite graduation, e.g. Nos. 1 & 3. or 2 &4. for quarter threads, engage at same graduation each time.
